Terms and Conditions

Granite Slabs

  1. Granite is a natural product and is subject to a wide range of variations samples, may differ from current slab purchased due to the fact that one side of each quarry will differ from the other side of every quarry as it is natural rock.
  2. It is advised that the client must go view his or her material at the slab yard and pre- select the exact shade and colour of a specific material that they have chosen.
  3. Tectonic Stone will not be held liable due to different shades or patterns from block batch numbers.
  4. Certain Granites will be subject to being filled and repaired where necessary, due to their porous nature.
  5. Granite does not have a warranty from our supplier as it is a natural product so any un natural defects must be notified within 5 days from installation.
  6. Customers and other contractors must be careful around sensitive areas where there cut out have been done e.g. hobs, sinks and basins. Vibrations from cutting tools and pressure applied around the sensitive areas when installation of appliances commences Tectonic Stone will not be held liable for any breakages after the installation.
  7. Do not sit or stand around sensitive areas on the countertop this may result in cracking or breaking of the stone, Tectonic Stone will not be held liable for cracks or breakages after installation.
  8. It is advised not to use flamed material for kitchen worktops and braai areas as it is too porous for those application Tectonic Stone cannot be held for and markings or staining after installation.

Marble Slabs

  1. Marble is a natural product and is subject to a wide range of variations samples, may differ from current slab purchased due to the fact that one side of each quarry will differ from the other side of every quarry as it is natural rock.
  2. It is advised that the client must go view his or her material at the slab yard and pre- select the exact shade and colour of a specific material that they have chosen. Tectonic Stone cannot be held responsible for veins in the material all marble slabs have veins due to its nature no colour variations.
  3. Tectonic Stone will not be held liable due to different shades or patterns from block batch numbers.
  4. Certain Marbles will be subject to being filled and repaired where necessary, due to their porous nature. Veins, pit holes and filled fissure lines open regularly, Tectonic Stone will fill with epoxy and re-polish Tectonic Stone will not replace marble slabs if the veins, pit hole or filled fissure lines separate.
  5. Marble does not have a warranty from our supplier as it is a natural product so any unnatural defects must be notified within 5 days from installation.
  6. Do not sit or stand around sensitive areas on the countertop this may result in cracking or breaking of the stone, Tectonic Stone will not be held liable for cracks or breakages after installation.

The following Quartz brand are covered under warranty

  1. Caesar stone lifetime residential, 10 years commercial
  2. Café Quartz 15-year limited warranty, 6 years commercial
  3. Silestone 25-year warranty
  4. Pro Quartz limited lifetime warranty, commercial none
  5. Teltos Quartz 15 year’s limited warranty
  6. EEZI quartz none
  7. Colour Quartz 10 Year

This Warranty does not cover:

  1. Any cost or expenses incurred or relating to the removal and/or re installation of the product or replacement of the product and/or transportation costs and/or loss of profit and/or any other related expenses
  2. Any instance where the Purchaser is not the occupier of the residence
  3. Use of the product for any commercial purposes, Commercial usage includes but is not limited to, use of the Product in high traffic areas such as in a store, rental property, offices or any other places of business.
  4. Any outdoor application
  5. Fireplace or braai surrounds
  6. Flooring application
  7. Instances where the product is/was used improperly or abused or otherwise has suffered impact damage
  8. Scratches
  9. Routine maintenance
  10. Any chemical damage
  11. Any creative use of the material including bending or curving
  12. Material that has been milled or reduced in thickness
  13. The altering of any factory applied finish
  14. Natural variations in the colour, size, shape and distribution of the pattern of the natural quartz or the natural variations in background tone
  15. Spots or blemishes which are inherent in the manufacturing process and do not affect the structural integrity of the material
  16. Instances where the product information on the back of each slab has been removed.

Removing this product information will void the warranty. Each product supplier has different terms and conditions it is the clients’ responsibility to go onto each suppliers’ website and view their product of choice warranty terms and condition. Some supplier requires a registration for warranty after purchase in order for it to be validated.

Neolith OR Porcelain slabs

  1. 15 Year limited warranty
  2. Customers and other contractors must be careful around sensitive areas where there cut out have been done eg. hobs, sinks and basins. Vibrations from cutting tools and pressure applied around the sensitive areas when installation of appliances commences Tectonic Stone will not be held liable for any breakages after the installation.
  3. Do not sit or stand around sensitive areas on the countertop this may result in cracking or breaking of the stone, Tectonic Stone will not be held liable for cracks or breakages after installation.
  4. All neolith installation must be on a solid surface, should the cabinetry not have the necessary support Tectonic Stone will not be held liable should any breakages accrue.

General

  1. Silicone work will not be under lifetime warranty, the customer has 5 days after installation to notify of any defects, after installation any additional silicone work that needs to be done will be charged a call out fee and hours worked depending on the scope of work. Should the silicone be damaged after the installation by any other contractors on site Tectonic Stone will not be held liable for the costs of re-siliconing, it will be billed to the customer that placed the original order and the customer should recoup the funds from the party which is guilty of the damage.
  2. All epoxy join work will be covered under manufacturer warranty for a lifetime period. This excludes outdoor applications. Should water damage or sagging of cabinetry accrued Tectonic Stone will not be held liable for the cost of the repair and the customer will be billed a call out fee of R850.00 ex VAT.
  3. All joins will be open joins filled with an epoxy resin. (Max width 2mm)
  4. Warranty claims are subject to the replacement of the material only.
  5. On warranty claims for replacement material, Tectonic Stone cannot be held responsible for colour variation between batches and are only subject to the replacement of the damage piece and not the entirety of the whole installation. Any costs involved for subcontractors e.g. plumbers or electricians to remove and reconnect sinks or appliances will be on the customer’s account and not Tectonic Stone. Under no circumstances will the Tectonic Stone be liable for direct, indirect, general, special, incidental, consequential, or other damages of any kind whatsoever, regardless of the cause of such damage.
  6. Tectonic Stone cannot be held responsible should extra items be ordered after the original order was placed and Tectonic Stone can no longer purchase from the same batch previously ordered as stock is subject to availability. The customer agrees that should colour variations accrue we cannot be held responsible
  7. All material installed on one specific quotation will be from the same batch.
  8. Sanitary ware and sinks must be fitted by a qualified plumber and all electrical appliances must be fitted by a qualified electrician, for gas installations a qualified gas installer must be used.
  9. Undermount sinks will be glued to the stone with a bracket which will hold it for 48 hours, don’t remove the clamp before that as this will result on the glue not setting and the basin will collapse within a short period of time. After the 48-hour set then the plumber can remove the temporary support bracket and connect the waste fitting. It is advised to get the carpentry manufacturer to make a wood support for the bottom of the basin should you with to fill up the basins with water and leave them full for a prolonged period of time.
  10. No hot pots or excessive heat should be placed on and granite, marble or quartz countertop.
  11. All drop in sinks; appliance cut-outs are done on site and any cut outs with polishing work that is required will be done at the factory including flush mounts.
  12. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that all appliances and sinks are available the day of installation, should Tectonic Stone arrive onsite and are unable to install a call out fee of R850 ex VAT may be charged.
  13. All stone supplied by client will have no guarantee or warranty whatsoever, Tectonic Stone will not be held liable for and breakages, slab defects or replacement for whatever reason during the manufacturing and installation process.
  14. By signing this quotation or paying the deposit means acceptance of the quotation the customer understands the terms and conditions in this contract.
  15. 70% deposit is required on acceptance of this quotation and the 30% balance is due on completion day of installation. All overdue balance payments will be charged maximum interest per week overdue and handed over for collection within 30 days. Collection costs will be added to the outstanding balance payments.
  16. All goods remain the property of Tectonic Stone until paid in full.
  17. All prices include VAT delivery and installation unless otherwise stated.
  18. Quotations are valid for the period of 7 days unless otherwise stated.
  19. Price is subject to change after final measurements.
